7 Ways to Stop the Crazy Busy
Getting caught up in the busy-ness of life? Yeah me too, but I know I bring it on myself. But is being busy really all it’s cracked up to be? For a very long time, my friends have always said how busy they perceive me to be. It’s true. I just cannot sit still really for very long. Hell, I have a 4 month old and I’m already back working on my biz, as well as running a household of two babies and helping to support a full time working and studying husband. I fill almost every moment of every day and get to the end of the day exhausted in a heap, promising myself more »

Last week I took Manus to have a playdate a friends house. Little did I know it was going to be a fancy afternoon tea (my favorite!) made especially for ladies. With gorgeous vintage & antique home decor, and stunning tea cups that looked straight out of the mad hatters party from Alice in Wonderland, my stunning host from LA served us up some delights. Including delicious rustic spelt banana bread and the best fruit salad I’ve ever had. Hands down. My friend was delighted when I queried the sweet addition of coconut in the salad, saying she wasn’t surprised a raw chef could detect that. So this week I’ve been craving that delicious and more »
Share on FacebookMilk Mama | Breast Feeding Success! {Giveaway}
Breastfeeding has been such a joyous experience this time around with my little girl who turns 4 months shortly. Going in this time I was a little more emotionally prepared for the worst unlike the taxing time I had with Manus when breastfeeding didn’t go according to plan. You can read more about my breastfeeding woes with Manus in my Post Pregnancy Part 1 and Part 2, but the purpose of this post is to encourage other mummies who also had troubles with no 1 that no 2 is not always going to tread the same path. When ChloĂ© was first born and I spent those first 2 nights in hospitial with her, she was more »
Share on Facebook7 Tips for Eating More Raw in a Cooked Family
Good morning! Well it is here in Saudi, and I’m sitting here in my exercise gear ready to hit my boot camp class but my sitter is late so I thought I’d share some tips with you instead on how to eat more raw in a family that just isn’t as into it. I’ve mentioned before that even though my husband is just as health conscious as me (he owned a champion juicer way before we met and he often only eats fruit only until lunch time) he still wants to eat meat. I’ll only cook chicken or fish, if he wants red meat he’ll eat it when we go out for dinners. And that’s more »
Share on FacebookRaw Food Leaders UNITE | Response to Matt Monarch’s Video
For those of you that are new to hearing about the almost newly fashionable ‘raw food movement’ or ‘raw food community” you may or may not already know of Matt Monarch from The Raw Food World and and The Raw Food World TV Show on YouTube and his wife Angela Stokes-Monarch who achieved amazing weight loss success on a 100% raw food diet. Today’s YouTube video from him comes at at opportune time, following on from my recent post on Which Diet is The Right Diet and a much older post I wrote on Diet Labels. As a mother of two and a wife of a VERY omnivore husband, I more than realise that acceptance more »
Share on FacebookRecipe: *COOKED* Curried Lentil & Vegetable Soup
Wellllll, I promised this weeks ago right? But I’ve been too busy making batches of it each week and today I was reminded that I needed to share the recipe with you, because I am making double batch this week, one for us and one for friends of ours on the compound we are living on. My friend is healing from breast cancer and it’s such a wonderful, unique, supportive place we live in here, that plenty of the women have signed up to make dinners for her and her family to allow her time to heal and rest. Such a great idea and it is all managed through a facebook group and this website more »
Share on FacebookGetting Started: Kitchen Pre Prep Guide PDF
Saturdays are our Monday’s here in Saudi and and such are the beginning to the week ahead. Saturdays are my usual day for fridge clean out which involves making fridge clean out juices, smoothies, pasta sauces and stir fry’s ready to be replenished with newer and fresher produce from my weekly shopping trip. I’ve already posted this Kitchen Pre-Prep PDF to my newsletter subscribers last year: if you are not already signed up to grab your free raw recipe eBook here. It’s a useful guide I use most weeks to ensure I stick to our reasonably flexible but necessary meal plans each week. You can click on the PDF here to print out your own copy. more »
Share on FacebookWhich diet is the ‘right’ diet?
There seems to be a little bit of a trend going on. Some people who are/were considered leaders in the modern vegan and raw vegan movements have made some dietary changes. Changes that if they were not so prominent in our little online communities wouldn’t really create much of a stir. But because we feel like we know them through their blog posts and social media presence it can come as quite a shock when something like this is revealed as we not only feel we know them, but we’ve also gained so much insight from them in the past. Raw food, for the unaquainted, is generally coupled with veganism and for me this was more »
Share on FacebookVideo Post | Juicing vs Blending
Well hello there! It’s been a while between green drinks, but I’m slowly creeping back into work now that ChloĂ© is almost 9 weeks old (and a dream might I add) so hopefully I’ll get to pop in here and post a little more frequently now as I begin to find my flow as a mama to two beautiful babies. Last week we celebrated our little man’s 2nd birthday, so I can no longer say I have two children under the age of 2 but they’re still pretty close in age. Last week I dipped my toe back into presenting some more workshops and classes with a presentation on the benefits of juicing to the more »
Share on FacebookOur Birth Story | How It All Changed Half Way Through
Last Monday I gave birth to my second little earth angel and couldn’t be happier with our complete little family. If you follow along on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you’ll know that once again my delivery date came and went and at the risk of being induced (which I did not want), I tried everything to get my little girl to budge. Hot curries, long walks, ahem, you know all of those suggested ideas. In the end I think it was the long walk and curb walking I did the evening before and possibly that it was just the right time for her to make her debut? My first born, Manus was also overdue by around the same more »

Seven is our lucky number so it was only fitting that our overdue princess arrived on January 7th at 7.24pm. Introducing our newest family member, little Chloe weighing in at 3.62kg/7.98lbs and just over 1 week late, but very very welcome. I’d love to share more details with you soon, including my birth plan and how it changed at the last minute! But right now I’m off to enjoy and help this little guy adjust to his new baby sister. So far it’s been a crazy day since coming home from the hospital on 2 hours sleep with a new dynamic in my household. But I couldn’t be happier or more grateful. We’ve all be more »

Howdy! How’s your first week of the year been? It’s been a bit of a non week here, playing the waiting game, preparing for my mother to arrive from Australia next week and just laying low and resting up ready for our little girl to make her appearance whenever she feels ready. Most days I’m feeling pretty awesome and full of energy, but I think I can overdo it then, I realise that labour could be any moment then I slow down and realise I need the rest. Yesterday I took myself off to the supermarket off camp to load up on groceries (last grocery shop I thought would be the last before baby was born, but more »

As I write this I am still pregnant with 1 day left to my supposed due date (it’s changed throughout the pregnancy). Like my first baby, I’m thinking this one is just very comfortable inside. She’ll arrive when she’s ready As a symptom of late pregnancy, or so I’m told, between the bouts of extreme tiredness, there are cliqued bursts of ‘nesting’ energy and this week has been no exception. First up, in a bid to clean out our fridge & pantry to make way for shopping day, I decided to take everything out of the fridge that was REALLY close to expiring, then deciding what I could make good use of. I made a more »

Happy Boxing Day! I’m sure some of you don’t even know what that is, but for some reason the day following Christmas day in Australia and the UK is called Boxing Day (or St Stephens Day in Ireland) but I’m not sure about anywhere else in the world. How are you all feeling after a big Christmas day (for those of you that celebrate?) I am seeing a few statuses on Facebook and Twitter from people feeling like they’ve overdone it. No need to fret, just get back on track, start off your day with a warm lemon juice, then a yummy green juice and/or green smoothie. You’ll feel better in no time. Christmas day more »

As promised, I’d said I’d share with you the recipes I had come up with thus far, in putting together my Holiday eBook which I just plainly ran out of time to complete. I think you’ll really enjoy this recipe as much as I enjoyed quality controlling it with my little fella – he’s learning how to talk now and kept opening the fridge, pointing to these saying “CAKE”. They are very simple to make and there is not much equipment needed. If you have a dehydrator you can use it to dry the sprouted buckwheat or else use an oven on the lowest setting until you get that crunch. The Aussies reading might also more »

Share on Facebook6 Tips for Staying on Track During the Holidays
With the holiday season here and plenty of opportunities to spend time with loved ones, having temptation all around, adopting a new way of eating can be quite daunting.  Previous to being high raw, I’d even opted to NOT socialise whilst bedding down a new diet fad or whilst doing a detox. I remember one time, when I was still a flight attendant, deciding to pick up more flights for a month as I was giving myself a 30 day (month) ban of anything social, just so I could focus on my eating and exercising without having to have the anxiety of peer pressure to drink or eat things I just didn’t want to. However this was more »

Things are slowly starting to wind down here in preparation for our baby’s birth which could be either any day now or 2 weeks past 30th Dec, but it’s a great time of year to slow down any way and switch off, enjoy time spent with family and friends, and reflect on the year that was, and to visualise how you want next year to be. With the impending arrival of our little girl to complete our family, I am really looking forward to taking each day at a time and enjoying my  family time as much as possible, but I will be popping in from time to time on the blog, but mainly on my more »
Share on FacebookGetting Started RAW | What Juicer Should I Buy?
With the launch on my latest eBook Smoothies & Juices for Newbies (have your grabbed your copy yet?), I thought it’d be appropriate that I do a blog post on what type of juicers there are and the differences between them all. You can download a PDF version of it here. Juicers can vary greatly in price, so if you are just starting out and are not sure if you are going to stick to juicing, then start out with a centrifugal, however you do get what you pay for so in the long run, you may wish to upgrade to a masticating juicer (like my champion) or a triturating (twin gear) as you will more »

This is not a disclaimer or a justification but I feel it needs to be said. First of all I want to say parenthood and pregnancy are difficult enough at times without having to complicate matters even more so by having unreal expectations, excessive stress and judgement from others. We are all trying to find our own way in the world and with scientific research changing every moment it’s not only hard to keep up to date with ‘what the right thing to do is’ but also you will always find evidence for and against every study under the sun.
