Here is the band in action. It was fun to get a group together to see some culture. It was also a lovely reminder of our times at Cafe De La Musica in Havana earlier this year.

Afterwards we had a nightcap at Trader Vics just before heading home before we turned into pumpkins. I love the Cuban resident band there too, but no salsa dancing for me last night : although there were 2 couples doing Casino Rueda. Next time!!!!

Last week before I left on my work trip, I was given this lovely gift of dates. Such a generous gift, and initially it was given to me to send to my mother, as I had mentioned her fondness for dates, however Aussie Law is very strict on importation of fruit so I would have a tough time getting it through. Although I don’t really enjoy dates on there own, they make a delicious natural sweetener for MANY dishes.
Look here, a little mouse had a taster of a few and didn’t think I would notice the hole in the top when I got home
Today the mouse came home from work craving some Almond milk. Keeping in line with Victoria Boutenko’s 12 Steps to Raw (1st part)
we watched 2 weeks ago, (where you should listen to your body’s cravings as a way to intuitively eat) he asked me to show him how I made the
Banana & Chocolate Nutshake that I made for him recently. It was quite fun actually, but with a little variation on the version I made last time as I didn’t have very many almonds so we used half almonds and half hazlenuts.

How cool that he finally gets to use HIS vitamix (just kidding, he gets to use it most days).
Here is is blending the pre soaked nuts. Roughly about 1.5 cups of nuts to 3 or just over cups of filtered water. Blend until combined.

Here the stocking is making an appearance again. I have NO idea where my nut milk bag is….and yes the stocking is clean!!

He added one frozen banana and 2 fresh bananas (as I didn’t have any more frozen, I will have to pick some up tomorrow!) and two tablespoons of cacao powder and 4 FRESH dates. Blend all and then drink!

Milk Moustache!

We even had a visitor arrive just in time to taste test, Nicolas (from France). So I bored him with my stories of my recent trip to Sweet Paree and delivered his smelly cheese to him.
I have been wondering what to do with my left over almond & hazlenut meal from my nut milks and Sheri from one of my favourite raw family blogs here has suggested to make RAW cookies. So this is what has just gone into the dehydrator.

YUM. In a few hours they might be ready to taste test AND no food goes to waste. I’ll share the ingredients with you tomorrow after I have tried them!
