Cabbage in your Smoothie

I was 100% Raw today. Hi five!!!
However it hasn’t been hard, because I haven’t really felt hungry for anything else.
Today when I woke up I headed straight to the gym for quads, hammy’s and calves and then I did a surprise hour jog on the treaddy. Alot of people talk about eating before working out for energy but
Body for Life recommends working out on arising, on an empty stomach if possible or else having 3 hours food free prior to working out if training out later in the day, which is tough sometimes. At first I had to really push myself but once I hit the cardio part of my training I felt I could have kept on running, but opted to keep it to the hour.
When I got home I waited an hour before making seriously the best GREEN smoothie eva!! I took
Sheri from Vegan Family Inc’s lead, and added some cabbage to my smoothie. Usually I only juice cabbage, but blending it certainly seemed to not be as unpleasant (juicing with other veggies and maybe some apples to offset the bitterness is ok but still sometimes smells a little unpleasant).
I found these three apples that had seen better days so thought it might be a good idea to cut out the bad bits (of which there were not very much) and threw in 2 lemons, 3 kiwis, a quarter of a cabbage, a punnet of strawberries, some water and a tablespoon of spirulina. This was a really tasty little bugger. I basically sipped on it all day.
I made a whole jug full just for me, and it basically kept me going til dinner time. Then thought I had better make good of some sundried tomatoes waiting for a delish dish in my tummy. Time to try
Kristen’s Raw’s Tuscan Sundried Tomato Pesto.
Lucy looked on whilst I prepared the ingredients.
Booh yah! I ate wayyy too much but hey this is the great thing about RAW. You really can’t go wrong. I didn’t have any fresh basil so I used some dry herbs and I added extra garlic (just because I could!) and yes this was the best way to finish my day. Totally recommend you trying this recipe. So easy and TASTY.
The thing I find with raw food is I don’t subscribe to the usual breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals everyday, but rather I just eat when I am hungry and listen to what my body wants. And it works. Today all I had was smoothie and cucumber with the pesto dip….tomorrow I might eat more or less. And this is what I love about raw. Intuitive eating. Something we lose the ability to do on a standard American (or any other Western country) diet.
How do you like to eat?
See you tomorrow
