@shelleyb99 we are thinking August or Oct, not sure yet :)

Whoa whoa we’re half way there…whoa living on a prayer!!

Couldn’t resist with the title of this post eh? Channelling a bit of Bon Jovi never went astray right?
So I am almost at my destination with a bit of break in between to get some rest and recover before the next leg. This trip has been a little different to other journeys in regards to my preparation and organisation with my food. This time I had chosen to wing it, as opposed to carrying oodles of food packages, so it will be interesting to see how they both compare. I purposely didn’t pack things like supplements and condiments as I am hoping to stock up on these at my final destination as these can be difficult things to come by in the middle east, and the lighter I can travel now the better.
So I slept all the way from Bahrain, as per usual, most long haul flights departing there leave at silly o’clock in the morning. I didn’t even have a chance to have a nibble of my special meal I ordered (Fruit Platter) but that was fine by me, as I should really be sleeping at that time anyway.
I arrived into Hong Kong for transit and headed directly to the business lounge where I pulled out my travel coffee cup and grabbed some jasmine tea and topped up with some hot water. I was feeling a bit peckish (it was 1pm local time but breakfast time back home) I grabbed some sliced fruit and kept myself busy catching up on emails.

I got excited when I saw Singapore Airlines’ big lady the A380 driving past my window. I am yet to fly on one yet as a passenger, but I caught up with some old work colleagues from Qantas tonight, who told me all about their experience working on the big girl (more on that later in the post).

So when I finally boarded my last flight for the day, I had my new iPhone ready to rock with a couple of movies put onto my macbook by my mac’ced up pal earlier in the month. I know the airlines provide you with great inflight entertainment (when it is working) but I guess the novelty of having a phone that not only tells me the time of my new destinations, currency exchange rate, and also takes photos of my food for the day, I can ALSO watch movies on it. I ended up watching 88 Minutes and was RIVETTED. Has anyone else seen it? Quite a fantastic cast and the story line was heavy but kept me holding on.

I had requested once again the fruit platter (make sure you do this at least 24 hours prior to your flight) but noticed that the main menu had a salad with a sesame soy dressing, so I asked the pursuer if they had enough could I steal one of those. Sure enough they had plenty.

This was my airline meal:

Fruit platter, dried fruit, salad with optional side of sesame soy dressing. I got the ladies to refill my travel mug with hot water so I could have my own Yogi Berry Detox Tea. I didn’t touch the juice…who knows how many years ago it was juiced icon sad Whoa whoa were half way there...whoa living on a prayer!!

But look what was in the dressing icon sad Whoa whoa were half way there...whoa living on a prayer!!

Fish!!! Naturally I didn’t have it, so my salad came dry. No matter.

Ummm dates and figs. You know I have never really tried figs, and I tried these ones (hence one missing) and had to have it all. They truly are food from the gods.

Yummy! Dragonfruit. This I have missed. I used to get to eat this when I lived in London and worked on all the Asian flights with Qantas. Has anyone ever tried it? It is sweet and tastes kinda like kiwi fruit. It’s meant to be ever so good for you.

When I arrived at the hotel around 9pm I was STARVING. With plans to meet up with a long lost friend from my old banking days over 10 years ago, he happened to be here on holidays (Facebook is a blessing isn’t it!) I quickly showered and called on room service for their menu salad of rocket (arugula) endive and walnuts (I omitted the blue cheese and asked for a balsamic vinegarette on the side) and the soup of the day which was minestrone. The walnuts came candied (well ok I ate all five of them, as they added a nice crunch and sweetness to the salad which I didn’t use the dressing for at all.

Oops and an Appletini. How did that photo get in here…well I guess I had to have some fun once I caught up with my pal at a local martini bar (my favourite) Although I really don’t tend to drink very much, when I do get the chance, I like to make sure it is quality!!! There seems to be mixed opinions on alcohol and a raw diet. Does anyone have any thoughts to share on this?

Aleem and I then headed off to another nightspot to catch up with some of my pals from my old job at Qantas who were here for work. I arrived and happened to see more of them than I bargained for as there are more than ever staying here each night compared to when I worked with them, it was such a delight. I really enjoyed catching up and finding all about their new ‘longer’ trips and how some of the crew find flying on the A380. Interestingly not many of them like working the bigger jet at all, with one of the main complaints being it is much ‘drier’ than the usual 747 I used to fly on, with one of the girls complaining of dry eyes, skin and nose bleeds. If that isn’t enough to REMIND everyone to make sure you keep hydrated when travelling then I don’t know what is. Oh and on a positive note too, most my old crew mates commented on my weight loss. Wowsers, the most of it, I had thought had only just been over the last 4 weeks since arriving back from Italy. It is amazing how quickly your body can respond to activity and healthy eating. I am inspired. I am halfway to my goal so fingers crossed I reach it by the end of these 10 weeks!!! Go Raw & Body for Life!!!

Well time for me to get some beauty rest, but before I take off, perhaps you’d like to take a look in my suitcase to try and find my Vitamix jug?
