Energy to Burn
Posted by GirlonRaw on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 ·
Hey hey how did you start your morning today? This is how I started mine! I finally worked up the courage to use the juicer in the hotel restaurant and all they had was carrot and pineapple???? I just stuck to a plain carrot juice, some green tea and some hot water with lemon. I also indulged in some sauteed mushies and some wholegrain toast.

This morning was spent doing mundane chores like WASHING! With still another 2 weeks to go, it was imperative I have some clean clothes. On my way to the laundry room in the hotel I noticed these window washers and suddenly it reminded me of my mum.
She sent me through this photo of her doing indoor rock climbing on the weekend. Isn’t she wicked? She told me recently that she feels fitter now she is 50 than she did at 30 so when I feel like flaking at the gym or giving up on my workouts I need to think of my mum and that she can do it, so can I!
We had planned to go and see a movie this afternoon, but with not much choice available, we settled on
Inglourious Basterds (don’t mind a bit of Quentin Tarantino action) but WE GOT THE TIME WRONG hehe. So we will try and see it again this week. Instead I went shopping

Found some hot little shoes for a ball I have coming up when I get home. Quite looking forward to it

And I came across this little band playing in the square. This is my first attempt at an iPhone video so apologies for my lack of ability. I should have gotten up closer but they were only just starting to draw a crowd. A passerby commented to me that they reminded her of Hanson (does anyone else remember them?). I love how the drummer kicks in.
How cute are they? And polite too. When everyone gave them change, they would make a point to say thank you. Put a smile on my face for the rest of the afternoon.
I found a Vegetarian Restaurant through
Happy Cow’s iPhone application website that I have been dying to try but I have had so much food to get through (yes I have probably gone overboard to ensure I always have some food on hand however this place is proving to be quite forward in the wholefoods department) so I hadn’t had the chance until today when I was out and about and was starting to get hungry.
I loved this restaurant. All the staff were dressed in sari’s and they had one RAW item that I just had to try. A flax & sunflower sandwich. It was sooo good. It had a cashew hummus and some kind of pesto sauce, everything was just so tasty.
I don’t normally drink when I eat, but I had to try a small smoothie and now I cannot remember what was in this one. I have vowed to go back and try their Power Green Smoothie with organic veggies.
This evening I had a double class of Spin then Body Pump and amazingly I had still energy to burn so when I got back to the hotel I did a 35 min jog on the treadmill. Must have been that RAWsome lunch I had.
On my visit to the mall on Saturday, I found a kitchen gadget store (I love gadget shops!) and found a vegetable peeler similar to the ones Lori from Pure2Raw wrote about
here. It is great to be able to make matchstick strands of most vegetables kinda like my
spiraliser, but even better because I can take in on the road as it is compact and still have some of my favourite dishes. Here I just tested it out with a carrot.
And added some more veggies for my dinner.
As I said yesterday, today I was doing something to aid in detoxing today, however I had to reschedule for tomorrow so more on that then
See you tomorrow
PS I just watched a TV movie Year of the Dog, has anyone else seen it? Brad Pitt actually directed or produced it. Was quite cool in a quirky kinda way, but quite ironic that it had a Vegan Theme.
