Hiya everyone sorry for my absence these last couple of days, lots to report as per usual
The gym was closed both Saturday and Sunday (due to moving) so I stuck to a light jog on Saturday and had a rest day on Sunday Before I headed off for some shopping I decided to make an almond milkshake.
This is it going in:
And coming out:
Almond milk, 2 bananas, 4 dates and a tablespoon of carob powder.
As I had left the almond milk in the fridge for two days it has started to develop a bit of a yoghurt so needless to say I am keen to look into making raw yoghurt next For almond milk making assistance, check out Natasha’s blog here.
No green smoothie this day as I was running low on produce so I headed off to the mall to check out the local stores (and ones I am familiar with!). But before I headed off I got my ‘green’ fix by having a walk about town in the sunshine and saw this gondola boat on the river, but couldn’t get my camera out quick enough to capture it.
I cannot believe how much restraint I had at the mall and just bought a cute sequin tank and a funky pinstriped blazer. Oh and heaps of produce for my meals for the week.
At the mall, I decided to get pampered and have a mani and pedi, and whilst waiting for my nails to dry, I got talking to the lovely lady beside me, Joan. Wow, she is who I want to be when I grow up. At 61 she didn’t look a day over 50, although she called herself ‘very old’ (hardly!) I discussed with her the lack of obesity I have noticed here and also the awareness of eating wholesome organic produce and of course as she knew no different having lived her whole life here, she didn’t really think it was such a big deal, but I had to explain to her that to me, this place was heaven! Even the ads on television reflect this, with one I just watched encouraging people to grow their own veggies. Oooh yeah baby!
Sunday, involved us heading to the local convention centre to check out the Gluten Free Food & Allergy Show. Now after talking to the lady at the local wholefood and organic store I have been frequenting, I totally agree with her stance on a lot of gluten free food. It is not necessarily healthier but usually allows gluten intolerant (celiacs) to not miss out on once in a blue moon kinda treats ie meat pies, pizza bases, biscuits etc. But we discovered across a lovely brand called Prenzel who make some delicious infused oils and whoopsy…some vodka. We were allowed to try it first and that is what sold it to me. I have never ever drunk Vodka straight before (who would?) but this was sooo smooth, and easy to drink and I was promised VEGAN. I decided buy a bottle…only because my brother is heading here next week for a few days and I thought it might go down well for our mini family reunion
Here some other goodies I snagged as well:) mainly just as back ups to my usual high raw vegan diet. Once again I don’t really like to eat pasta or packaged foods, but sometimes it helps after a busy day to have a healthier convenience meal available:
Did anyone realise that Wasabi was actually a plant? This stuff is purely the plant, lemon juice, veggie oil and salt. YUMMO!
Today was a slacker day as the weather was freezing and it was drizzly outside so I stayed in an had a right laugh at the movie The Hangover, which was exactly what I needed but I’m back on track tomorrow with a Body Pump and RPM/Spin class planned, plus I have booked into do something I am really quite excited about but will share with you tomorrow. Hint: it assists with detox?
Thought I’d leave you with this feel good videoI just couldn’t resist. I have been posting this song on everyone I know’s facebook wall, sorry if I have spammed you too , I just love it. Such a good song to get you up and moving and the video clip is even better. I almost cried a tear of joy, yeah I am weird!! Enjoy
"Just wanted to say thanks so much for a really excellent workshop. Really enjoyed it, and got lots of great information. It’s inspired me to eat more raw! And make it!" Judith
"Thank you for a brilliant evening. The food was fantastic – far better than I expected."Kelly
