I need the biggest bowl you have!

I need the biggest bowl you have! But I didn’t end up using it!! More on that later.
I slept in late today and had an RPM/Spin class booked in for lunch so I didn’t allow enough hours for me to have a snack before my work out so I went in and did my time on the stationary bike. I feel I am getting fitter and am able to push myself slightly harder, but today there were a few vomit moments….that is when I know I am pushing myself to the limit. I first got hooked on spin when I lived in London and sometimes I would do two classes a day as I had a gym right next door to my office. I would either go before work and lunch or lunch then after work. The first few classes were tough, and I really DID think I was going to be sick but the more I stuck at it, the stronger, fitter and leaner I got. Serious calorie burner.
I then headed back to the hotel to get some food after I waited an hour from the end of my workout. Figured a green smoothie was in order:

Going in: 2 bananas, 1 lemon, 2 zukes (I didn’t even taste them), 2 red apples, handful of spinach and tablespoon of spirulina powder and 5 dates with some water.

Coming out: Truly delicious. And as per normal, I made a whole jug, so had half of it this afternoon and I am sipping on the rest now for dinner.
So today! Guess what I did??? A colonic!!! I found a lady who operates out of her home with the same kind of machine I have used in Hong Kong over 2 years ago (on company layovers – they are awesome to have before and after a flight!) which is self administered, hygienic and reasonably priced. I hope to get back there a few more times over the next 2 weeks and see how I progress. I had a little cramping (which is normal) but amazingly I really didn’t have anything come out, so the lady thinks either my diet is super clean or else, in the next few visits I might have a different story. Hmmm not that great to talk about but highly relevant to this kinda lifestyle icon wink I need the biggest bowl you have!
Because of the colonic, I couldn’t eat 3 hours prior so I stuck to my smoothie after the gym then waited 4 hours for my appointment, then I finally got to see my movie Inglourious Basterds, Wasn’t as bad as I thought. I usually don’t like gore but it was ok, plus less over the top than Kill Bill. I think Tarrantino told a good, albeit fictional, story. Has anyone else seen it? All I packed for snacks was dried goji berries. The colonic therapist told me goji’s are best eaten once soaked as they rarely digest otherwise, so I held off eating them.
Got home tonight and realised all I had all day is my green smoothie and really I don’t feel hungry. I asked for a large salad bowl from room service to make a now famous in room salad and when they brought up the smaller bowl I had to ask them for the biggest bowl they have instead, and now I don’t feel like one so close to bedtime. Ah well there is always tomorrow for a killer salad.
Question time!!! A couple of questions I’ve been asked of late and thought I’d answer here for everyone’s benefit:

A good friend from high school who mentioned to me today that she is embarking on the Green Smoothie Challenge here which I am uber impressed with:

Q – Smoothie question – before I committ to the smoothie thing – is my regular blender OK?

A – I used a regular blender up until I got the Vitamix this year for all my smoothies and have done for the last few years. You may find you may not get the smoothie as ‘smooth’ as you would with a more expensive high speed blender, but before you make that financial committment, your blender will be fine. Heaps of raw foodists, never upgrade and do just fine. You just may not be able to blend things like celery and carrots without burning out your motor, so once you get into the habit of using it you may consider an upgrade later on down the track.

And another from Anna who writes one of my favourite blogs here. She actually asked in my comments from yesterday’s post but I do get asked this question quite often so wanted to share with you my answer:

Q – Can I ask why you don’t drink when you eat? I’m assuming it’s harder to digest your food?? Just curious!

A – Yes that is right Anna. There is a belief that when you drink whilst eating your digestive enzymes and stomach acids are diluted and can inhibit the uptake of nutrients and also effect your regularity. I tried not the eat about 30 mins before or after a meal. I do like a Green Tea after my dinner sometimes though.

Time for me to sign out. I am hoping to maybe do a split session at the gym but see how my body holds up icon smile I need the biggest bowl you have!
