Treat Night: A Night of Dancing and High Tea in Dubai

Well here I am in the land of the never ending construction (Dubai) to wish one of my best friends and old London flattie a happy birthday. I arrived off the plane last night, just in time to have a quick shower, get frocked up and wait for the guests to arrive. Whilst waiting it out, Hayley (the birthday girl) and her flatmate Sheena and I, celebrated with some duty free PINK! Champagne. My favourite: Veuve Clicquot. But only for special occasions

I had a lot of fun catching up with some friends I met on my last few visits and meeting some more, with the end of the night culminating in me dancing my face off at Chi Lounge at the Lodge. Apparently Bloc Party were supposed to be turning tunes on the decks, however they cancelled and instead it appeared that my ipod was being played on shuffle which was a good night for me (perhaps not such a good night for the people within striking distance tee hee). Oh and I bet you never thought you would see two girls dressed in cocktail dresses, holding clutch bags dancing so elegantly (NOT!) to Rise Against the Machine’s, Killing in the Name Of??? Well had you have been at Chi Lounge you may have just spotted us.

Then at silly o’clock it was time to come home and jump into these lovelies:

My adorable Peter Alexander PJ’s that I stocked up on when I was in New Zealand. Actually an Australian designer of PJ’s, but I was so thrilled to see their store in Auckland so I stocked up on a few cute pairs. Very comfy indeedy.

Today was spent have a LONG lie in and catching up on sleep debt, then getting dressed up again to head out for high tea at one of Dubai’s lovely hotels in Old Town, The Palace.

Still sans a decent camera (are you listening Santa – I would love an Olympus Waterproof 10m hehe) I am making do with my iPhone for now.

Such a nice way to spend the afternoon with the ladies with a nice cup of fragrant passionfruit green tea and watermelon juice. Not much in the way of vegan specialties, but I did enjoy some cucumber sandwiches and fresh strawberries

Tomorrow promises perhaps some lazy pool time, with some reading and girly gossip with my gal pal (she has been granted the day off work woo hoo) and a run, body pump class (yessssssssss) and maybe some window shopping at the Homes R Us store. Love love love kitchen supplies.

On a final note I got another email from the olds back home in Australia today with photos of our Boston Terrier after an emergency operation to remove some cloth from her intestines. This is her post surgery

This is what happens when you give your puppies plush toys to play with and they pull them apart (and try to eat them). Aw, poor Cassie.

Erm, there is no empty nest here that is for sure! My mum completely inspires me everyday. She’s told me, next month she’s off to learn how to surf. If at 50 she can be doing this kinda stuff, then hellooo at 32 I surely can be! That’s what I tell myself when I am jogging around the golf course and I am ready to quit!
