Another quickie dinner – Felafel Wrap with Garlic Tahini Sauce
Man I crashed out really early last night so no blog post yesterday!
Thanks so much for all your comments re what you like to eat for a quick dinner, you have certainly given me (and plenty of others I’m sure) some great ideas for quick on the go, healthy eats. Such great ideas.
I was so tired yesterday with a high workload at the moment, but it was nice for a change to be in bed before midnight actually. So I missed dinner and I also missed my workout for the day. Thank goodness Becci took my puppy out for a walk whilst I was at work before the rain set in for another day. One of the benefits of living in compound community like this one
Sunday night’s dinner was another something quick and easy again as I only got back from Bahrain quite late. I’m becoming quite the quick dinner expert. This was pretty much the view all across the causeway back home to Saudi before dinner:
It has not rained like this in such a long time!!
By the time I got home I was ready to eat the leg off the table, so I looked in the fridge and this is what I came up with:
Funny that the meal had a Lebanese flavour, so after all my whinging about being sick of their food from my recent trip there, I certainly must have had a hankering for it. 2 days later I am still raving about it. I was so proud of my throw together dinner I had to even post it up on Facebook for all to see
It certainly hit the spot.
The cooking was a bit messy haha, can’t you tell how hungry I was with my lack of grace?
Felafel Wrap with Garlic Tahini Sauce
4 felafel patties
mixed salad veggies including tomato & cucumber
*I used these – matchsticks of brocolli and carrots* and 1 tomato and 1 sm cucumber
1 wrap (I used a garden spinach and herb)
juice of 1 lemon
4T of tahini
1 crushed clove of garlic (I used 2 as I was sleeping alone that night!)
First I baked the ready made felafel patties in the oven on 400’ for 10 minutes or until a little crunchy, whilst I got the salad veggies ready. (for those of you on camp I got the felafel easily from the commiscary in the frozen food section)
Garlic Tahini Sauce – mix juice of lemon and garlic and tahini up (you will find the lemon juice will thicken the tahini but just keep stirring til all mixed up. This will be your garlic sauce!
Place the felafel on your oven warmed wrap then top with a little of the sauce, then pile your salad veggies on. This day I used the broccoli slaw I had on hand with tomatoes and cucumber. This is when I piled the rest of the sauce on top. Don’t be shy with the sauce, it is delish.
Then roll up like a burrito and enjoy! (NOT VERY LADYLIKE EITHER HEHE)
Yesterday’s eats were actually not that exciting as I got up a little late and has to rush out the door for a flight so I just ate some fruit on the fly!! And by the time I got home I crashed and slept for 12 hours straight. Must have needed it.
Just a quickie post day everyone, whilst I go off and help the new girl settle in. I’ll be back tomorrow with some more healthy eats

Robyn, seriously, can I come visit so you can feed me!!
hehe. Every single thing you eat makes my mouth water like crazy!!! (more so than any other blog out there)
I am going to buy some falafels, I stopped eating them when I stopped having dairy, because I usually have tzitiki (I have no idea how to spell it) haha… but tahini dressing looks yum!!
Thanks for sharing
Jessica
I would love you to come and visit me haha, but hard to get a visitor visa to Saudi, but hey drop me a line at girlonraw@gmail.com and tell me where you are based
Maybe I will have a work trip there soon
Man, that sounds goooood! I want falafel! I want to live on a compound! Your life sounds more and more awesome with every post!
Hey Jen I don’t think you could even imagine it unless you were here. It is a city in a compound. Think The Truman Show hehe.
Man I need quick meals like this…wicked!!!!!
Easy to make Liam with all ingredients from the CommiScary
Yeah it works now!!!!!!
I eat this exact thing all the time! I think our tastebuds might be twins, Robyn! I love falafel and I love that they are nearly always vegan, no matter where you get them. And you know there is nothing I love more than garlic. You used 2 cloves, I’d probably have used 5.
Looks delicious, as always!
Hasn’t the rain been crazy? Normally I would love it but it means I haven’t been able to ride Ender so it is making me miserable.
Woo hoo Tash and that is why we get along so well. So glad the rain has eased up but you know it is sometimes good to get rain in this part of the dry world
Oh my…falafel and tahini….two of my favorite things! When are you in Paris?
No time soon but we never really know until last minute
I will keep you updated.
Ha! We’re def on the same page. Beautiful wrap
