Hiya bloggies, how is your Thursday treating ya?

This is the face that wakes me up most mornings and yesterday wasn’t any different. How can you resist not taking this cuddle buddy out for a good walk?

After her walk/run I came home and made this:

A PINK SMOOTHIE…yeah you heard right. How funny that my favourite colour finally manifested itself in my enzyme enriched morning beverage.

This one had a strangely pleasant taste!

1/8 of a red cabbage

1 cucumber

1 zuchinni

1 peeled lemon

2 apples

1 avocado

¼ cup of frozen blueberries

1 T of gold flaxmeal

1 teaspoon of maca

2 teaspoon agave nectar

1 cup of filtered water

a handful of ice

Still using the ghetto blender but good news is I think I have found a stockist in Saudi Arabia that has VITAMIX blenders – wooooo hoooooo! I’ll let you know where to get them for those of you reading locally VERY soon. Watch this space.

Later in the day I had a sweet craving so melted some of my dark vegan chocolate and make a couple of treaties inspired by plenty of blogs out there at the moment doing their own versions of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, like here and here.

This time I used almond butter filling and topped with descicated coconut. YUM!

I even made a special one JUST with coconut like an Australian Golden Rough

In the afternoon I headed back over the causeway to Bahrain and managed  another Body Pump class at Fitness First then headed to Voracious Vegan’s favourite restaurant here.

Oh yeah, I was pretty happy icon smile Do you want dosa with that? Especially after my weight training session. Not really sure of what to order I stuck to Natasha’s suggestions of veggie cutlets, potato vada and dosa. I really wanted to try the Puri Channa but we had already ordered so much we had to leave something for next time. Anand Bhavan in Bahrain is a South Indian Vegetarian restaurant so no naan or dahl here, just plenty of spice and flavour.

Tomato & Onion Dosa

Ragda Samosa – Read more about this restaurant and these dishes on Natasha’s blog here

We happened across at least 2 other veggie restaurants which we intend to explore on our next visit to Bahrain icon smile Do you want dosa with that?

It’s really nice to get over to Bahrain whenever my schedule will allow as it is such a novelty to do things like go out for an enjoyable dinner without having to wear an abaya and also being able to see a movie (no movie theatres in Saudi, but we do have a small one on the compound) and Body Pump class.

Time to head off and delight in  one of my other favourite places to dine in Bahrain – Lilou icon smile Do you want dosa with that? I’ll update you on today’s eats later.

Do you have any favourite veggie or veggie friendly restaurants to dine at where you live? What are they and what do you usually order? I’d love to know as you know how global I am icon smile Do you want dosa with that?

  1. Yummm… those chocolate cups look good. I might have to try some coconut in mine!! :)

I had fatoush salad today and thought of you! haha :)

  2. Gillian says:

In Vancouver there’s a great vegetarian restaurant called The Naam that does amazing thick cut fries with miso gravy.

In Paris there is a vegetarian Indian restaurant I love, as well as a really cute place called Bob’s Kitchen that does wonderful juice!

Have been breaking out the juicer by the way, I looovvvee itt!

  3. Girlonraw says:

Oh Gillian you are making me crave juice. I keep wanting it, but the blender is sooo much easier to clean. Maybe tomorrow :)

  4. Just watch out for those Indian veg restaurants – much of Indian veg food is not vegan – they are obsessed with dairy – milk and butter or else curd used in a lot of gravies, etc.

Well, for now my fav is raw, vegan Rasayana Cafe in Bangkok!

  5. Travel Raw says:

I wish I could have gone with you to lunch! Yum. Liked the chocolates too! The pink “enzyme enriched morning beverage” just made me laugh out loud!

  6. YAY! Anand Bhavan is THE BEST restaurant ever. And if you thought that what you ordered was tasty, just wait till you try the Channa Puri, that is my number one favorite meal of all time. It is EPIC.

Looks like you had a blast, Robyn! Love the pictures of sweet Lucy.
