I’ve received an Award! & Updates from the Raw Kitchen
The lovely and gorgeous Dairy Free Betty honoured me with an award the other day and I have only just gotten around to sharing it.
Now I must pass it onto 7 beautiful bloggers and then write 7 random things about myself. It is so hard to pick out only 7 as I read so many great blogs but here are 7 of my most current discoveries. These ones are mostly fitness related but food and nutrition go hand in hand right?
Blog Lovin’
7 Random Notes about Me
- I can juggle!
- I am the eldest child and have a middle sister and a younger brother. My sister lives in Milan and my brother close to my family in Brisbane, Australia.
- When I first moved to Saudi Arabia, I joined a women’s soccer team. I am hoping to play some more games with the team before the season ends, if my work schedule permits (are you reading this Kaye?)
- My favourite colour is most definitely pink….my iPhone, MacBook, Camera and PS2 are just a few of my pink possessions.
- I am a trained make-up artist and used to work in television many moons ago.
- Growing up I went to 11 schools! No I didn’t misbehave (I wish hehe), my father was in the military.
- I am a godmother to two beautiful girls – Evie and Alice Burns. My heart aches to see them very soon and they give me the greatest amount of joy despite never having met them

So back to the food but not before I share with you a photo of my furry family that I caught getting cosy today:
Who said cats and dogs don’t get along?
So after my produce shop yesterday I needed to do veggie washes. For those of you that don’t have access to ORGANIC fruit and veggies (like me in Saudi Arabia) the next best thing is to do a Veggie Bath/Wash. I usually use only baking soda, however Shannan from Living a Whole Life writes more about it here. I usually do the baths as soon as I have brought my produce home.
All you need for a Veggie Wash.
Then I did a massive cleanout of my fridge which was wayyyy overdue with manky stuff still in there from before I went away for 2 weeks and I had to just take a photo of what it looked like immediately afterwards as there is NO WAY it is going to stay like this for long. Check out the leftover Chocolate Monkey Mylkshake STILL in the ghetto blender hehe.
In my cleanout I found a butternut pumpkin that I decided to turn into fries which have been doing the blog rounds of late. I used coconut oil and Himalayan Sea Salt to bake for about an hour on 400.
This is when they started to look good so I had a little try. Then I got called out to help the man jumper his motorbike battery and came home to charcoal in my oven
There were about half I saved and they were tasty little buggers we gobbled them up before a photo was taken. The coconut oil gave a bit of sweetness to the pumpkin. Definitely on the agenda for another try.
Just before they died

And some mushies that had seen some better days so I marinated them. MY FAVOURITE way to eat raw mushies.
Olive oil, Tamari & Black Pepper left in the fridge for about 30min. But make sure you turn them every 10 mins or so to cover all mushrooms.
Then it was time to take Lucy for her daily run around the 6km Golf course, however Becci’s ipod tells us that it is 8kms. No wonder I was getting dismayed at my time. This is half a banana with almond butter and maca. Another item I have just discovered in my pantry. Maca has sat unused for almost a year. Thought it would be a great fuel for my run
When I got home I put together some more leftovers in the fridge to create this tasty bugger of a salad.
Mixed lettuce leaves, Rocket (Rocca/Aragula), beanshoots, cherry tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, avocado, red and yellow capsicum, toasted pine nuts, topped with my marinated mushrooms and a KILLER dresssing:
Olive Oil
Balsamic Vinegar
Chilli Flakes
Dried Oregano and Dried Basil
Himalayan Sea Salt
This was ONE tasty salad with a slight spicy kick from the chilli flakes. Oooh yeah.
Now it’s time to head back to the kitchen – there’s no where else I’d rather be ya know. I’ve got some yums organised with lots of my fruit and my newly cleaned out Excalibur Dehydrator. I see some treaties in my future.
See you next time

Love the site!!
Thank you for the sweet award!!! (I deleted your first accidental comment
)
Your fridge is inspirational and I must try your raw mushie salad. Your big salad at the end looks like something I would love! I put chili flakes in everything and am a huge fan of himalayan sea salt!!
I just ran out of my Maca pills but they were so good for energy! When I first got them I doubled the amount I was supposed to take by accident (misread the back) and was literally practicing ballet at 2 a.m. Crazy energy!!!
Love the new blog layout!! And that is very cool about you being a make-up artist, I would love some tips!
Keep me away from your fridge because I will eat all the of the delicious looking food in there. :d
Massive Congrats on your award! You deserve it! So sorry your fries got burned! Boo!

Awesome pics… love the babies!!!
Hello, you beautiful pink-loving soccer-player (and you JUGGLE? so cool.)
Your furry babies are adorable curled up together! You must be glad to be home with them. And your goddaughters are precious. That photo is incredible. I hope you get to meet them soon!
Your fridge looks beautiful all full of fresh eats! I love snooping in fridges (I loved the pics of your pantry you posted a while back too — your new pantry shelves look awesome!).
Enjoy your time being back home — sounds blissful, lounging in bed half the day with a computer and chocolate-covered strawberries
Congrats on your award Robyn, you definitely deserve it!
Awww Lucy and Sam are best buds, what a cute picture.
