Savoury Quinoa for Breakfast
Happy Monday everyone, hope you had a fabbo weekend! I spent most of mine in bed still getting over this crazy jet lag business. It usually hits me worse coming back from the States, so I’ve been pretty immobile and not eating too much either as I’ve been dealing with a sore throat and stuffy nose. Â Good news is, it’s almost gone! Yay for my uber cool diet eh.
Still not been produce shopping so dinner last night was this when I finally crawled out of bed at midnight…what the…
One of my lovely purchases from Wholefoods in Houston last week
Had to spice it up a bit with some of these.
Dinner for Crazy Jetlagged One
Had to get some carbs so toasted up some Ezekiel bread with my last resort spread:
I bought this as no Earth Balance was left when I did a shop in Bahrain recently, and I was kinda keen to taste it too as it’s an Aussie brand, but it doesn’t even melt on hot toast…reminded me of plastic! Anyone else tried it? I am keen for it to be done, but I don’t use it alot so it will probably stick around forever.
For breakfast this morning I was totally craving something savoury and spicy so I cooked up some quinoa with veggie stock, filtered water and topped with chilli flakes…yep, that was breakfast
Today I found out some promising news on the raw food front regarding my future. Not sure it is a definite go but all will be revealed in the coming weeks. I am actually quite excited. Do you have any ideas?
Rightio back to sleeps for me, hopefully I wake up tomorrow and am back on a NORMAL sleeping pattern. Wish me luck!
If you missed my weekend posts, on Saturday I featured Dairy Free  Betty here and yesterday I posted a How to Video on making Nutmilk here. Check em out

reminds me of my eats lately, lentils, veggies and quinoa…
can’t wait to hear/read your news…and good luck with your sleep…
=)
Thanks girl
I’m keeping your big secret! Hee, hee! it is such a good one, too!!!
Funny – I was thinking of making quinoa for breakfast tomorrow morning for a change. We must be on the same wavelength!
Yay for vegan food, it really is the best, isn’t it? You know, I’ve been vegan for 3 years now and I haven’t gotten sick once! Not one cold, not one sniffle, nothing. That is the power of plants for sure! I’m SO glad you are feeling better and getting lots of rest. You’ve been busy like crazy lately and all that traveling would knock me out for a solid week, I bet. Hopefully you’re going to have a bit of a break sometime soon….?
Where did you find that yummy looking soup? Please say somewhere here so I can have some too. Looks like heaven. I love all of Amy’s products so much. They are tasty, organic, and delicious.

I LOVE QUINOA Andrea. You can flavour it up with either stock, spices or even sauces. I made it here also http://girlonraw.com/2010/02/17/quick-easy-dinner-quinoa-vegetable-curry-casserole/ and it was yummy.
Is Quinoa good? I have been reading about the Paleo diet, but I’m wondering about some of the aspects included.

The quinoa for breakfast looks yum. I will try that for the kiddos instead of brown rice all of the time! Thanks for the idea. Have you every sprouted your quinoa? I have seen people do it, but I am not quite sure how to go about it.
