lce-Cream and Coconuts. What’s not to love?
Hey what’s up peeps? Guess what? It’s almost Friday…wahoo!!! Well I actually wish the week wouldn’t go so fast as I am loving this course! This morning I woke up a little late so I grabbed a Larabar and headed out the door.
I’ve since found out through a pal on facebook who has contacted General Mills (who purchased LaraBars in June 2008) that the following bars are still raw:
The following bars are still 100% raw with no sugar…
Apple Pie
Banana Bread
Cherry Pie
Cinnamon Roll
Coconut Cream Pie
Ginger Snap
Pecan Pie
Pistachio BarThe ones with peanuts are roasted, the the cocoa is heated. The cashews use heat to extract the nut.
Good to know!
Today at 105 degrees class was pretty jam packed and we didn’t even notice how quickly the day went. Just the way I like it! First up was dominating these babies. Regular readers will know these are one of my all time favourite. Young coconuts.
The result of all my hard work. Young coconut meat.
And my reward. I adore this coconut water.
Then it was onto Ice-Cream making.
We had free reign to decide on our flavours. I went with a childhood favourite. Choc Mint. Of course I taste tested it
Before the ice-cream maker….
After the ice-cream maker.
How could you not LOVE eating raw when you get to eat this kinda stuff?
Then time to make nut milk. Sorry no pics but we did some dehydrating of the leftover nut pulp ready for another recipe.
Then nut milkshake recipe time. I love it when we can be creative and make our own version.
I went with nutrition packed spirulina, nut milk, coconut meat, coconut butter & a banana and whizzed it up.
And I ordered a cafe Kale Caesar Salad to accompany it. Don’t ya just love the pine nut parmesan and rosemary croutons?
We also learnt different types of tomato sauces and different uses for them which was fun and tasty
I raced home after school, got changed and headed out the door for a workout at the gym. I intended to give the Cardio Box and Zumba a try (I love my salsa and have been dying to try this out for ages) but when I got to the gym the class looked quite ALOT different to the one I do back home so I chickened out and stuck to an hour jog on the tready. Is there something in particular that intimidates you at the gym so much so that you won’t even try it? I’m afraid I am a creature of habit, but I do like to try out new classes now and then. Today I was a scaredy cat.
Quick stop at the supermarket to pick up some breakfast goodies after the gym (bananas etc) and home to do some washing and now it’s bed time.
I can’t believe week 1 is almost done. I hope it doesn’t go too much faster. See you tomorrow with more goodies FOR SURE.
People have been asking me if 105 degrees has a cookbook/recipe book available for sale and apparently not at the moment, but possibly in the future. However Matthew Kenney (Director of Culinary Arts & Operations) does have 3 Raw recipes books – I have all 3 of course) and so far I can tell the dishes on the menu have his flair. You can find very similar recipes in these until a 105 degrees book comes out. (here’s hoping!)

OOoooooooooooo!!!!! So fuuuuuuunnnnnnnn!
1. Thanks for sharing the Lara Bar info. Have not had one in over a year, but will use this list when I am able to shop! Very helpful!
2. That dehydrator looks HUGE!
3. Ice cream looks goooood! What did you use for the mint (if you are allowed to tell!)?
I was just wondering if you were going to post a Day 4 post! Don’t ever skip a day!!! I am loving this! Have a great weekend (I know you will!)!
Hehe I knew you would love them Jen as would I if I were waiting to come to the school. Just think, soon enough this will be you and I will be sooo jealous of you being able to be here.
The dehydrator probably looks huge but it is similar size to the 9 tray excalibur.
And the ice-cream I used fresh mint leaves and a drop of mint extract
What’s a good brand of mint extract to use (non-synthetic, etc.)?
Keep up the good work!!!
I LOVE larabars but they’ve stopped selling them in the UK (gutted). If I go to the states I’m def stocking up on them!
The ice cream looks amazing! I rarely crave ice cream (probs because of how lame British weather can be most of the time) but the raw ice cream makes me want it right now (it’s breakfast time here).
Good luck with your change of career- how exciting!
I know the feeling! I used to live in London and I never ate ice-cream there! As for the larabars, I reckon you could make your own?
True, I do live off donut holes/fudge babies/whatever else they’re called. It’s been a while since I’ve had larabars so I wonder if I’ll like them as much now that I’ve started making raw treats…
Hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy your cocktails
I looove ice cream, but I don’t have an ice cream maker, so I stick to what I can make in my blender. I’ve never used young coconuts before, but maybe I’ll get one when I go out today and try it.
And I’ve never tried a lot of classes at the gym, mostly because I don’t like being told what to do! I stick to yoga and doing my own thing on the track. I’ve wanted to try Zumba though. I haven’t tried that one because I’m pretty uncoordinated and can’t dance my way out of a paper bag.
I have made it without an ice-cream maker before as well, it can work if you freeze it but stir it up every hour or so? And I hear ya on the unco-ordination…that is why I stick to classes i know. It takes me a bit of effort to learn a NEW routine hehe.
Ah, thanks for the info on Larabars. I love them but recently read how they stopped putting “raw” on the labels. Good thing Cinnamon Roll is still on the list!
Oh. my. goodness. That icecream looks super delish!
Erm, the only thing I can think of right now as being afraid of are some of the ab machines in the gym. I think I’m too embarrassed to use them because I’m not even sure how they work, haha. I still to old school crunches and such.
No worries! I know what you mean about those machines. Why use em when you can do the same exercise on your own?
Good to know on the Larabars, thanks. Everything looks amazing, especially the ice cream. It looks like your training is going wonderfully!
I am in love with this course Christine. It is really amazing.
I’ve been so busy lately that it’s taken me some time to get back over to your blog. I’m playing catchup, reading about all you’ve been up to recently. I wish I could be at 105 degrees with you. It must be an amazing experience.
BTW, you look so cute in your chef outfit. I need one of those.
Hey don’t you worry! I have been busy myself. I know how it is. And when I get home I am totally making your raw cupcakes
Thanks for the chef uniform comment
Looks like your are having an amazing time!! Love reading your adventures!!
I want some of your mint chocolate ice cream, my fav too!!
