Hotel Room Smoothies

Thanks to EVERYONE for my birthday wishes on Twitter, Facebook and email yesterday. I know I kept it quiet up until yesterday, but to be honest,  I had no major plans (my honey is back home in Australia for one more week) and it really didn’t phase me to do too much except relax and NOT work.

My girlfriends came to my rescue though and planned a get together with friends and some KARAOKE! How fun. I have video of us signing (killing) Joan Jett, I Love Rock n Roll, however it might take some convincing to get permission from those who partook to get it on the Interweb icon wink Hotel Room Smoothies

Right now I’m away on a short work trip and as per usual I have packed my trusty ole travel blender.

Due to my career as a professional traveller, quite often I am asked what is my recommendation for a travel blender and without fail I always suggest a Tribest Personal Blender.

When I was in Oklahoma City in April, I did purchase a Bella Cucina for $30US from Target (as my Tribest is 220V and USA requires 120V), however I never even pulled it out of the box as I was constantly getting my smoothie fix at 105degrees where I was also going to culinary school. Instead I gifted it to my pal Megan when I left, however one of my student collegues used her Bella Cucina regularly and was very happy with it.

My Tribest also comes in handy when I am back in my OWN kitchen, and  need to grind my flax, chop nuts or simply make a basic salad dressing as it comes with two blades (one for wet and another for dry ingredients), along with 4 more containers and lids. I did purchase 2 more super sized cups for some serious smoothie action on the road. You can see me talking more about the blender on the road here, for new readers icon smile Hotel Room Smoothies

The Tribest is no where near as powerful as the much larger Vita Mix, however for a pint sized pocket rocket, I feel it does an even better job breaking down those spinach fibres, than my larger sized cheaper kitchen blender did before I was fortunate enough to upgrade to the Vita Mix.

My personal blender has served me Green Smoothies in:

  • London
  • Jordan
  • Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)
  • Lugano (Switzerland)
  • Albania
  • Italy
  • Cuba
  • Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

  1. HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!!
That blender looks PERFECT for travel :)

  2. Indeed it is a pint-sized rocket! I’m so glad that my US voltage Tribest works in Japan where I live. It crushes ice very well so that’s pretty good for something that is compact enough for travelling.

  3. Bob says:

So are you recommending the Tribest PB-200 over the PB-300? I ask because your link goes to the 200.

  4. Bob says:

The 300 is much more expensive. I reckon it could grind rocks.

  5. Karina says:

That handy, wee Tribest blender is on my wish-list! Happy Belated Birthday Wishes from one crabby soul to another (I’m joking:). I really appreciate your observations, experiments, insights, feedback, reviews and creativity etc. as I wouldn’t of known of the Tribest travel blender if it hadn’t been for you, Robyn and Victoria Boutenko!

  6. Swayze says:

Awesome, I will definitely be checking this out soon. I’ll be traveling next weekend and would like a littler blender for my breakfast and lunch meals. It just takes me too long to eat 20 bananas on their own!

  7. Great post, I’m going to have to break down and buy a Tribest soon and really wished I had one while visiting in-laws last year.

  8. Glad you had a good birthday! I need to get a new blender (portable). We got a cheapo and it just doesn’t do the trick. You definitely get what you pay for.

  9. Girl, thought you would like to know that I have made the switch from vegan to 100% raw, at least for now. Still waiting to see how my body feels. I will be checking your site daily for recipes, so thank you! And I have been made fun of many times for packing my blender with me. But a girl’s gotta have her green monster!

  10. Just stumbled onto your blog – so nice! Happy birthday (:
