Workshop & Winners
Hey you
How’s your weekend? Or how’s the beginning of your working week if your one of my many pals in the Middle East (who I’ll be seeing VERY soon!)
Yesterday I attended the Brisbane Raw & Healthy Living Group meetup (the final one for the year) and it was the first time I had attended and was glad I did, however I left early as I had to get home to prepare for my workshop today but I was happy to hear one of the guest speakers, Jenni Madison of Coconut Magic, talk about my favourite topic, Coconuts! Well actually coconut oil.
Some points I noted down from the talk yesterday (some I already knew but thought I’d share with you)
- over 55% of diseases are caused by unresolved emotional issues
- coconut trees are also known as the Tree of Life
- a majority of health ailments stem from poor digestion
- real unprocessed, unrefined, cold pressed coconut oil has a very long shelf life
- coconut oil is the only oil use you should use when cooking due to the toxic free radicals that come about from heating other oils
- coconut oil metabolises through your body through energy of digestion
- coconut oil has/is used to assist with babies’ digestive problems in hospitals
- coconut oil can greatly assist with weight management and loss as it is full of nutrition so you feel less hungry
- coconut oil can soothe cuts & scratches
- coconut oil is the BEST oil for the Ayurvedic practice of oil pulling and has been known to even WHITEN teeth
- coconut oil is made from mature coconuts
I really enjoyed Rado’s (the group organiser) introductory talk too as he spoke about how eating healthy is only part of the picture and healthy eating is NOT the only piece in the puzzle . Waking up everyday to your purpose is very important. He asked if we loved what we did and would we still do our jobs if we didn’t get paid. He played this 3 minute movie. I LOVED it. I hope you do too!
My weekend has been pretty full and I have only just arrived home from my 5 hour Raw Food Basics Workshop for 3 lovely ladies, and boy I had a great time! I feel so lucky when I do something I love, like Rado mentioned at the talk.
This was my cargo earlier this morning before heading over to my host’s place to set up.

I think you might have already caught my over-the-top ecstatic reaction and pure happiness via twitter, so what I shall say here is thank you, thank you, thank you! That thing about guardian angels that I mentioned before? Yep.
Now, onto the other parts of this post:
You look utterly gorgeous and in your element running your workshop – what lucky ladies to have been there with you, and I’m so glad you’ve got this passion/work you love. Gives me hope
I also really like the points you’ve shared from the talks – I really believe the first one about diseases being caused by emotional problems. One need only think of how often stress, anxiety, misery, and hopelessness translate into nausea, headaches, lethargy, etc, to know that negative feelings can wreak havoc on our systems.
Fingers crossed I get some coconut oil at Christmas, so I can start the healing process
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve just emailed you my contact details, but I wanted to thank you on your blog. I can’t believe I won! Looking forward to trying out some new recipes with my new gadget!

I just found your blog. I love all the cool recipes and great info. My husband and I are trying to transition to a high raw vegan diet. I think your blog’s gonna be very helpful.
Aw thanks vegantickles. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you come by again and good luck with the transition. Is there anything in particular you would like to see?
Would you believe I did my Level II research project and presentation just last week on…coconut oil? Our lives seem to correspond in the most random ways sometimes
Sounds like a fun and informative meetup.
