Cinnamon Donut Holes *RAW*
Sorry to have deserted ya, but I’ve been working on my buckwheat and kim chee posts plus tonight is impromptu date night. Taking the hubs to see Water for Elephants again tonight, as I loved it so much and reckon he’ll love it to.
By before I leave ya, here’s a tasty recipe I came up with the other night when I was hankering for one of those greasy fried cinnamon donuts. Here’s what I came up with:
Raw Vegan Cinnamon Donut Holes
1 cup brazil nuts
2 T cinnamon powder
1/4 t nutmeg powder
1/4 cup maple syrup (not raw)
1/2 T coconut oil
pinch of salt
Process all ingredients in food processor fitted with S blade until well combined and nuts are worn down as much as possible. Try to avoid over processing, however you want to make these babies as fine as possible and not chunky.
When all ingredients are well combined they should look sticky like this
Roll them into even sized balls (My made 16) and place them on mesh dehydrator sheet for 24 hours to get that crunchy ‘donuty’ exterior.
ENJOY!

These look SO good! And so simple to make. A little cashew cream glaze on top would make them out of this world!
oh yeah! An iced donut hole
Yum! Do you reckon these would work out okay with other nuts (instead of brazil nuts)? I imagine cashews or almonds would have the same effect?
Oh, and do you have a recommendation for a dehydrator if I were going to buy my very first one? Thanks so much!
Hiya Katie, here is a review I did on my dehydrator last year I think http://girlonraw.com/2010/05/portobello-burgers-dehydrator-review/ hope it helps
Super! Thanks for the info!
I would say definitely try some other nuts, but they won’t have the same kinda donuty fatty texture and crunch. But I bet they’d still taste nice.
Those look awesome. I love Brazil nuts.
I know me too. I reckon they give it the right texture, crunch and fat to help mimic a donut
these look absolutely incredible! Thanks for the recipe!!!
Oh, Rob! I *will* be making these. You know how addicted I am to making dessert bites like this right now, and since I bought that 1L of maple syrup…. Yay!! I’ve never used brazil nuts yet. You’re inspiring
Darling girl, Brazil nuts are my FAVOURITE kind of nut. You MUST try them without processing first!
Ooops, mistake! I meant I haven’t used them in raw vegan desserts, but I’ve definitely eaten them! Funny thing is I loved them as a kid, then decided in high school that the texture was weird, and now I like them again. The high oil content would make them fabulous here, I bet!
I first discovered them when I was living in London working a desk job and I used to pick up a bag from Marks & Spencer, oh how I love that store. And yes they are unlike any other nut and I chose them for the donut holes for their higher fat content
uh – oh…..I’ve been noshing pretty heavily on these for the past several days….maybe I should try a less fatty nut? Your thoughts? I’m a snack-a-holic and bite sized things disappear FAST.
Yummm-eeee! And hey, I just watched Water for Elephants. I love Rosie!
Oh wasn’t she adorable. I still cried the second time around!
These look so fabulous and I can imagine just perfect for our upcoming Summer months when you just don’t want to turn on the stove or oven!
YES!!! Donut holes are really quite perfect at anytime of year
How long do these last once dehydrated? How are they best stored? Thankyou
Hi Bianca, honestly, they won’t last long in your house
But you can store them in your freezer for I’d say a month or more and pull them out as you need/want, but I kept them on the counter top (or in the fridge) and they were gone within days.
Many thanks x i love simple yet effective raw recipes!
What in the delicousness! Cant wait to try these!
I want to try these! OMG! I need a dehydrator so bad.
Okay these haven’t dehydrated yet but the batter is FREAKING delicious! Thank you for the new inspiration
Can u do this without a dehydrator?
