My Favourite Things

So often I get asked, where did you get that? Or where can I get that? So I thought I’d share with you some of my current favourites things that I am loving.

My Tribest Personal Blender

photo1 My Favourite Things

This one’s been in my life for sometime (5 years in fact) and it’s travelled the world with me, during my flying days and also recently as a tourist. It’s 220V but comes in both 220V and 110V, and it’s very powerful for such a small machine. It blends greens and also comes with a dry blade (for grinding seeds and nuts – so perfect even if you don’t use it for travel) and 4 cups (2 x small & 2 large), with the cup featured being the extra large that I purchased 2 of separately for my super sized smoothies.

I take it on holiday when I cannot take my vitamix, and it keeps me happy in green smoothies, nut milks, salad dressings and pestos.

The cups are also BPA Free.

Other brands are Magic Bullet and Bella Cucina.

Glass Dharma Bendy Straws

I love these straws and have had these for at least 3 years. I have a draw full of 10 (due to my classes – I like serving pre class smoothies with the glass straw) and even though they are meant to be unbreakable, I have broken 2, but have dropped them more than that so they are super strong. And Glass Dharma do offer a lifetime guarantee – not that I have redeemed this as the broken straws have been thrown out before I’ve had a chance to send them back)

I purchased mine here in the US

In Australia you can purchase here

Stainless Steel Cups and Straws

For those of you worried about little kids dropping the glass straws, these are obviously a better solution, however it freaks me a little that you cannot see if you have cleaned these straws thoroughly.

Like the Glass Dharma straws however, I would make sure you rinse them thoroughly as soon as you are finished with them, especially if you are drinking smoothies and juices through them that when they dry, can be much harder to clean. The straws do come with a pipe cleaner however.

These are NOT suitable for hot drinks as they are not double insulated.

I ordered both the cups and straws from here.

Bobble Drink Bottle and Glass Lock Beverage Shaker

photo 22 My Favourite Things

I love my Bobble BPA free drink bottle, which i especially love when travelling. Due to liquid limitations you can take the empty bottle through security at the airport and fill it up at any tap. They now come in multiple sizes and colours and even in kids sizes, with replaceable filters. You can see my bottle has seen better days – it’s a bit out of shape, but it has treated me well.

I ordered mine from here but I am told you can find them in kitchen/gift stores in Australia, not sure about anywhere else.

My Glass Lock Beverage shaker is the bomb. Not only is it great for storing single serving juices and smoothies, but I also use it to store pre made salad dressings in the fridge as well. I only have 2 and am thinking of ordering 2 more. I purchased mine online here but I am sure you could find something similar in a kitchen store in your region. And it’s leak proof!

Only problem is, it doesn’t keep my juices & smoothies cold, so it is really only sufficient if you are going to drink straight away.

That’s where my flasks come in:

Insulated flasks

Similar to a coffee/tea/soup flask, I use these bottles to pre make smoothies in bulk to take with me when I leave the house. As you can see we have them in multiple sizes from indifivual to 2L. I found these at Carrefour in Bahrain which is a department store, but am sure you can find your own version as some kind of department store or online in your region. These get used multiple times throughout the week, with Pat usually taking the two middle sized flasks to work with his smoothies and juices to keep at hand on his desk throughout the day. Smoothies stay cold and delicious in these flasks for a long time and we’ve also kept smoothies in the fridge this way for up to 2 days.

What are some of your favourite things right now?

  1. I’ve seen the Bobble bottles & filters in Woolworths too. (Back home)

Also in a couple of airport shops in Oz, so they should be easy to find!

I know what you mean about the silver straws. I got one out a few weeks back took one sip of my smoothie and nearly gagged. As a big chunk of something old just got sucked up. I have not used my silver straws since. It was so awful.

I cant seem to find a cleaner that fits into this size straw to clean. So i will stick to my glass straws for now.
Thanks for sharing all your great little gadgets.

  3. Hannah says:

I’ve definitely been thinking about getting a Tribest if/when I settle down in Canada, as clearly I won’t be taking the Vitamix with me for months of travelling with one little suitcase! A little mini blender sounds perfect :)

    Hi,
Thank you for sharing those wonderful info. Just wondering whether Tribest is strong enough to handle making coconut milk? I really miss fresh coconut milk while on tour.
    Many Thanks.
