Fab Friday Giveaway | Better Raw Rawfood 101 DVD

http://girlonraw.com/ tanya better raw dvd

Happy Friday! Any exciting plans for your weekend? We had a Harley Davidson rally here on the compound yesterday which happens every year, and it’s the closest thing we have to a festival as our friend’s band played with their heavy metal/rock band for 45 minutes at the cricket ground. It’s pretty much a family day with food vendors, jumping castles and other entertainment, so it was lovely to get out and about. Our friend Chris, who is a wonderful photographer, and has taken some great shots of my tasting events, happened to snap this quickie of Manus and I (without his hearing protection which we had for when the band played). Anyway onto some more »

Making Raw Food Simple

DSC_0370

Morning! Happy humpday to you! Lately, I’ve been eating a little more simply with my raw foods, because so often I feel the need to make more gourmet complex dishes for showcasing here on the blog, or I am in the theme of making more transitional foods especially when in the thick of doing my classes as what I usually teach is the impressive dishes on how to make raw food more appealing. Plus it is what I am trained in. But as I’ve mentioned before, usually the longer you have been interested in raw foods, the more simplistic your tastes become, and spending  hours to process, dehydrate, juice etc for every.single.meal. becomes a little more »

Sorry to disappear on you like that, but between being in the kitchen plenty coming up with new recipes, testing old ones, planning my raw food launch and classes which begin next week and a slight emergency involving our little munchkin – all is well now thank goodness! I’ve just found it difficult to get on line to share my raw BLT I promised to you! Anyway plenty of you guessed all the components, but here’s how I made my scrumptious raw BLT last week. How To | Washing Your Greens & Herbs to Keep Fresh

CSA box

Hi everyone! If you follow on facebook, you will see that last week I was so excited to receive my first organic box in our CSA (community supported agriculture) which is organic as well! And yesterday I received our second box. I’m even more excited, because in the 4 years I have been living here, I have found it difficult to find organic produce let alone local and now we have both – at least until the growing season ends (not sure when that is). If you want to check out more about where I shop I wrote about it here and here. Here’s what our box includes: 3 heads cauliflower 3 heads broccoli 3 more »

Chai Gelato & Smoothie | Recipe

Howdy folks, I’m back again with this: Remember this cheesecake/tart from my Potluck? Well I made it from Matthew Kenney’s Everyday Raw but I changed it up a bit, but you can find the original recipe in his book. And there was another dessert I made and forgot to share… Chai Gelato. Yeah right, it was pretty decadent. I used the base for the icecream from here and you don’t need an icecream maker but great if you do: Raw Vegan Chai Gelato Ingredients 1 cup of cashews (soaked for 2 hours) 1/2 cup of coconut oil^, melted (I put it in the dehydrator til a liquid, but if it’s warm out you can just more »

Raw Food Potluck

DSC_0496

Howdy folks! How was your weekend? Indulge me, what did you get up to? Thanks for all your brilliant comments on my Compound post. I knew you’d all have no idea of what it was like and were wondering so thought it a great post idea. Glad I did. So today was the famous Raw Potluck and what a blast. Without it wanting to come across as a bit of an intervention/cult meeting haha, I tried to make it uber casual and just a way to get people together to think creatively when it comes to their health and their diet. Well I’m beat from making this… And these… And setting up our living area more »

Living on a Compound | Saudi Arabia

DSC_0447

I live on a compound. I guess to most people, that conjures up so many different kinds of images, but I thought I’d  shed a bit of light on where I live, because if I didn’t live here I’d be curious too. When I first moved here to Saudi Arabia, I came from London where I worked as a flight attendant also, and shortly after arriving, met my future husband who worked for the same company – different department. Erm that’s NOT my husband So even when I resigned from my flying career, I wasn’t required to leave as my husband lived here already. I guess it’s hard to understand what living in a compound more »

Chickpeas for Dessert?

Howdy! Welcome to my ‘quiet’ weekend. I’ve been non stop in the kitchen today (between feeding and playing with both my boys) with a few of the following goodies. When hubs needed a brief pick me up study break, I promised to make him a smoothie that would fill him up till dinner and give him a bit more energy and brain power. My gal, Kristen’s Cherry Chocolate Bomb Shake but I shook it up a bit… 2 cups of almond milk 2 frozen bananas 1 cup of frozen cherries 2 T cacao powder 2 T maca Blend and enjoy – this made exactly 2 large glasses. Eating Raw | My Food Philosophy | Video

Raw Food | My Food Philosophy

Often I am asked if I ONLY eat raw foods as I am so passionate about bringing more raw foods into both my life and those around me. My thoughts on diet and nutrition are very non judgemental and non biased and I don’t believe the way one person eats, should necessarily be the way everyone should eat to obtain optimal health. I believe there are healthy vegetarians, vegans, and omnivores (meat eaters) just as there are unhealthy ones and the way each person approaches their own diet is very individualised. I speak more about this in the video below, but I would love to hear your thoughts too on your food philosophy for great more »
